Grace: Our Mission, Our Purpose
Dear Parents,
Reflecting on the ministry of Grace Christian Academy, I am struck with the significance of the work that we have been tasked with. C.S. Lewis, in his book “The Weight of Glory,” eloquently articulates this significance, saying, “There are no ordinary people. You have never talked to a mere mortal. Nations, cultures, arts, civilizations - these are mortal, and their life is to ours as the life of a gnat. But it is immortals whom we joke with, work with, marry, snub and exploit - immortal horrors or everlasting splendors. This does not mean that we are to be perpetually solemn. We must play. But our merriment must be of that kind (and it is, in fact, the merriest kind) which exists between people who have, from the outset, taken each other seriously - no flippancy, no superiority, no presumption.”
As parents, you have been given an awesome responsibility to put the love of the Lord your God in front of your children (immortal souls) at all times (Deuteronomy 6:4-9). The responsibility of GCA is to partner with you as you undertake this God-given mandate. Whether academically, athletically, or artistically, we are determined to develop young people of character, integrity, and ready to carry great responsibility. Students who, as the Apostle Paul puts it, can “destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5).
So as we look at this new school year, can you imagine a more compelling task? I am so excited for what the Lord has for us this year as we walk with you; instilling wisdom in this generation.
